Files

Quick Info
Format

The Files field appears in a control file with the list of files defined in the data.tar.gz archive.

The Debian environment uses it to check source files validity: i.e. download the source from server XYZ and check the resulting package against the md5 checksum defined in this Files field.

Debian defines the first line of the field as "must be empty". We use it as the name of the field format so you are free to use one of the currently supported formats.

By default, the format of each line in a Files field is:

<checksum> <file size in byte> <filename>
